Recently, we have seen many Deaf become the victim of mockery, insult, and cyber bullying for using “faulty english grammar.”

Unknown to many, we, the Deaf, rarely have a mastery of English Grammar because we only understand English as used in sign language which is shorthand in nature. We use a different language using a different style of composition.

So next time you see a grammatically wrong post/message, think first before you ridicule, mock, laugh, insult, and share negative comments. Help us learn the english grammar by teaching us, and telling us nicely. And if you have time, learn the sign language so we may communicate better.

Always remember, don’t be a bully. Be a friend. Deaf or not, nobody should be judged by their inability to speak or write grammatically correct statements, or be bullied in any other way.

Let us be more understanding, respectful, and accepting of each other.
